Description

Six of our current still wine releases from the 2022 showcasing the breadth of what's possible here at Westwell. Includes Ortega, New Rose, Ortega Skin Contact, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

Contents

Ortega '22

Fermented in stainless steel, and at a slightly lower temperatures than those of a barrel ferment, our Ortega boasts precise floral aromas of honeysuckle, grapefruit and peach. Notes of grapefruit, guava and melon on the nose, easing to crisp palate of lemon, peach and white pepper with a good length. Pairs perfectly with white meats and shellfish, or enjoyed on its own!

New Rose '22

Produced from the second cut of our signature Pelegrim NV blend, this cuvée is fermented in barrel using indigenous yeast, the wine was left for 10 months before blending and bottling with a small sulphur addition.

Ortega Skin Contact '22

Slowly fermented via wild yeasts in stainless steel. After two weeks in contact with skins, the wine was pressed then aged in tank and old Burgundy barrels for six months before bottling. Expect a complex nose of orange blossom and honeysuckle, with a palate of apricot and dandelion.

Pinot Noir 2017

When taking over from previous owners John and Rids Rowe in 2017, we discovered a barrel of Pinot Noir that John had been experimenting with. It had a ripe pinot flavour that was a little masked by oak. We decided to develop this by creating our own red pinot in stainless steel and blending the two. This wine is the result of both ours and John’s experimentation - a rough and ready thing but with an undeniable charm.

Chardonnay '22

A crisp, lean cuvée mainly in steel with just a little barrel ageing to add texture and weight. Whilst this is a bright textural wine, the mid-palate has some lovely apricot and white peach flavours that compliment the classic citrus and saline finish.

Pinot Meunier '22

Gently pressed into stainless steel tanks to undergo fermentation with indigenous yeasts for a full 12 months. This the long slow process has resulted in a superb wine with its own unique signature.
